Meme coin trading hands beginners real upside and costs them in four predictable places: the wrong token, an oversized buy, a winner never sold, and a loser ridden to zero. Banana Gun puts a documented setting on each, from fixed SOL buys to a Take Profit, Stop Loss or Trailing Stop Loss order.
The upside is the reason you are here, so start with it.

What one day of meme coin trading upside looks like
Peace Coin was created on 2 Nov 2026 and showed +10,873% on its first day (GMGN, 2 Nov 2026). Anakin Skywalker, at a $2,572,490 market cap, showed +139.9% in 24 hours on the same list.
Of the top 20 Solana tokens by 24h volume, 16 launched on Pump.fun (GMGN, 2 Nov 2026, 13:44 UTC).
Banana Gun is a Telegram trading bot, so every fix below is a button in one chat. Here is where beginners lose the upside, and what you set to keep it.
Loss one: buying the wrong token
A ticker is only a name, so the contract address is what you paste.
Paste the contract address, or a Birdeye, DexScreener or Pump.fun link, into the bot and the buy menu opens.
The menu shows Token, Token Contract, DEX, Market Cap, Liquidity, Price and Tax, with links to Birdeye and DexScreener for a second opinion.
Read Token Contract, Liquidity and Tax before you tap Buy. Banana Gun also runs a pre-trade sell check on a buy you place, which blocks tokens you cannot sell.
The Banana Gun blog covers meme coin trading step by step if you want the longer path.
Loss two: sizing a buy by feeling
A buy sized by excitement is a buy sized by whatever you saw last. Pick one SOL amount and use it every time.
In the Telegram trading bot, the amount is yours on every buy: a preset or a custom SOL figure.
Keep at least 0.05 SOL in the wallet for fees, about $4.60 at $91.56 per SOL (CoinGecko, 2 Nov 2026); below that, buys fail with Insufficient Funds.
Banana Gun charges 1% per trade on Solana, which belongs in every size you pick.
When a buy fails, the docs point to three settings. Raise buy gas from 0.001 to 0.005 or higher, raise the MEV tip the same way, and on volatile tokens raise slippage from 5% to 10-30%.
Why do beginners never sell the winner?
A token that is up can look like it is still going higher. Peace Coin sat at a $300,352 market cap on day one against GMGN’s peak market cap field of $511,484. Profit you do not take is profit that can leave.
So decide the exit before you need it. Paste the contract and tap Setup Sell Limit Order.
Set Tokens to the percentage you want to sell, set Active for how long the order lives, then choose Take Profit and trigger it on a percentage change in Market Cap or Token Price.
The docs example triggers a Take Profit at +100%, which is 2x; +200% is 3x.
Take Profit at +300% is 4x. On a 0.5 SOL buy, selling 80% there returns about 1.6 SOL, roughly $146, before fees and slippage. The other 20% stays in the position.
A target set too high never triggers, and an order past its Active time is gone. Pick a level you would be glad to sell at, and check Limit Order Overview or Pending Limit Orders to see the order is still waiting.
What does riding a token to zero look like?
Two tokens both named AODF fell 99.99% in 24 hours on GMGN’s list (2 Nov 2026). A holder without an exit order depends on a manual sell.
The pre-trade sell check runs before a buy you place; once you hold the token, the exit is yours to set.
A Stop Loss sells on a percentage drop in Market Cap or Token Price. A Trailing Stop Loss raises its trigger as the price makes new highs, so the exit climbs with a winner.
Choose one per position: Take Profit, Stop Loss or Trailing Stop Loss. The order is a rule you wrote while calm, and it runs while you are asleep or at work.
Stay in the game long enough for the upside
Peace Coin’s first day and AODF’s sit on the same GMGN list, pulled on the same day.
Fixed SOL buys, 0.05 SOL kept for fees, a contract address pasted instead of a ticker searched, and one exit order on every position are the caps on the downside.
Caps on the downside are what keep you trading long enough to still be in the game when the next one launches.
